Painter - Leslie Duggan:
Leslie grew up in the south of New Zealand and studied at the Canterbury School of Fine Arts, specialising in printmaking, etching in particular. After graduating she taught art and continued etching, exhibiting and selling her work. After a few years of travel Leslie settled in Perth, Western Australia, her husband's home state, and then began painting, experimenting with acrylic on fabric.
Inspired by the different climate and harsher colours, in contrast to the meticulous skill of etching. In 1990 Leslie and Trevor returned to New Zealand, now living on Lake Wakatipu in Queenstown where she continues to paint in a colourful and spontanious style, and producing prints and cards of her work. Her inspiration comes from her garden, her home, the majestic Central Otago environs, and imaginative use of colour.
