Caroline Wills

When I moved from Dunedin to Gore nearly three years ago I had to give up my full time job at the University of Otago, which left a huge hole in my life.  A friend dragged me along to a felting class one Saturday, and by the end of the day I was hooked.  I have always been a "natural fibre" person so just loved working with wool and silk and being able to create amazing things with them.

Felting has certainly filled the gap in my life.  Most days I am busy creating garments and accessories, using mostly merino wool and pure silk fabric and fibre.  I use stronger wools such as Perendale and Romney for slippers and bags.  My love of strong, vibrant colours can be seen in my products which include vests, jackets, scarves, wraps/shawls, hats, brooches, slippers, boottees, headbands, bags, and am constantly looking for new ideas for things to make.   Each item is unique, although when people order a particular item from something they have already seen on my rack I try to resemble it.  I sell my felting at the Queenstown Market most Saturdays and am always happy for people to contact me personally by email or phone.
